Our story
2019
She Summits was originally founded by Dr. Carla Cupido in 2019 as a multi-generational film festival and events celebrating the female spirit. The first film festival was in collaboration with Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival.
2020
In 2020, we grew our impact, hosting 11 community events and 3 film events, reaching over 2300 participants and showcasing more than 30 inspiring short films. This year, Laura van der Veer came on board and Carla passed the torch to her.
2021
In 2021, we evolved from the film festival into developing our membership program and online platform, helping women thrive in work and life - with less overwhelm and more joy. This year, Danielle Leroux joined the team as co-founder.
2022
In 2022, we officially launched the She Summits membership. By December, we reached 420 women on our platform. In 2022, we hosted 36 virtual and in-person events, featuring 54 female speakers, and attended by 755 women.
2023
In 2023, we continued to grow our membership platform and community across North America, and launched our corporate offerings. We hosted in-person events across Canada with Fjallraven and Athleta, facilitated 35 corporate workshops for 1500+ employees globally, and brought women together through our 15 networking in nature walks, 9 virtual workshops, 4 in-person workshops and sip & mingles, 3 one-day retreats, 3 virtual challenges, and many more community events.
2024
In 2024, we sunset the She Summits membership program to allow us to make a greater impact in the workplace and focus our efforts on corporate workshops and partnerships. We continue to offer our highly popular quarterly Workshops and Sip + Mingles in Vancouver on our four signature themes for the general public.
