Discover Your Play Personality
At She Summits, we believe play isn’t frivolous - it’s foundational.
It’s why we host four core workshops designed to help women reconnect with themselves and each other:
Unleash Your Joy – Discover how joy fuels success and resilience.
Unlock the Power of Play – Use play as a tool for resilience, creativity, and wellbeing.
Uncover Your Confidence – Overcome self-doubt and step into leadership.
Awaken Genuine Connection – Cultivate authentic relationships that foster growth.
Today, we’re diving deeper into one of our most transformative experiences: Unlock the Power of Play — and specifically, the moment in the workshop when women discover their unique play personality.
Play looks different for everyone. And when you understand your play type, everything shifts.

Why Play Matters
When was the last time you truly played - in a way that felt energizing, immersive, and joyful?
Play is a state of being where we feel engaged, joyful, and free to express ourselves without judgment or outcome. It’s not about productivity - it’s about presence.
Research shows that play:
Reduces stress and anxiety
Boosts creativity and problem-solving
Increases productivity and energy
Strengthens relationships
Improves focus and mental wellbeing
Play isn’t a break from growth. It’s fuel for it. But the real magic happens when you understand how you naturally play.

The 8 Play Personalities
In our workshop, we explore the research of psychiatrist and play expert Stuart Brown, who identified eight distinct play personalities.
You may see yourself clearly in one — or resonate with several. That’s completely normal.
Think of this as getting to know the part of yourself that loves to have fun… and learning how to invite her back into your life more intentionally.
Here are the eight play types:
Joker: Play revolves around silliness and making others laugh.
Kinesthete: Play through movement and physically pushing their bodies.
Explorer: Play by exploring the world around them.
Competitor: Play through competitive games with specific rules and enjoy the thrill of winning.
Director: Play through planning and executing events.
Collector: Play through seeking and holding onto the best and most interesting collection of objects or experiences.
Artist: Play through creating and making things.
Storyteller: Play through adventures into the imagination.
Take the Play Personality quiz to discover your type (created by Therapist Lindsay Braman).
A Moment to Reflect
Once you know your play personality, pause and ask yourself:
Were you surprised by your play personality?
Do your current activities reflect your play type?
Or is there a gap?
This is where the real insight begins.
Because often, burnout isn’t just about doing too much - it’s about doing too little of what naturally energizes you.
And sometimes the smallest shift - a weekly hike, a creative hour, hosting a dinner, signing up for a race - can reconnect you to a part of yourself you didn’t realize you were missing.
Discover It, Then Live It
In our Unlock the Power of Play workshop at She Summits, discovering your play personality isn’t just a fun exercise - it’s a starting point.
It’s the beginning of understanding what energizes you, restores you, and helps you lead and live with more creativity and resilience.
